Former Las Vegas Raider Wide Receiver Henry Ruggs Faces Charges in Traffic Fatality
November 17, 2021
Rising star and former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III is now facing jail time. On November 2, at about 3:40 a.m., Ruggs got in a huge fatal car accident including 2 woman and a dog. Ruggs and his passenger were hospitalized with some injuries that police said did not appear life-threatening after the Chevrolet Corvette he was driving slammed at high speed clocking in at 156 MPH into the rear of a Toyota Rav4 several miles away from the Las Vegas Strip.
The Toyota burst into flames and the driver and her dog sadly died. After an investigation, it was reported that Ruggs was intoxicated that night and he is charged with a DWI. Ruggs was formally charged with four felonies and a misdemeanor
The charges he will be facing are:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol level of 0.16 percent, which is twice the legal limit in Nevada.
- Reckless driving resulting in death
- Possession of a gun under the influence of alcohol
Now the question is why did Ruggs do this? Why did he drive drunk when there are many ride share apps (Uber and Lyft)? He could face 50 years or more in prison if convicted on all counts. At only age 22, it is very likely his career is over.
