Uncertainty-Sonnet I

Brandon Young, Creative Arts Editor

My life without her here is dull and gray

No one to hug, no escape from this pain

If love be so, why then my heart is prey?

For this is it? My love to be in vain?

I have seen darkness before, cold and faint

And no such sorrow seems to fade away

But in this darkness does it seem too quaint

That love between us two has gone astray

I want to spend the days awake with she

And hear her speak, to see her laugh and smile

To hold her hand and be happy with me

If not forever, then at least a while

But yet, I wait, too scared to make a move

Afraid that only me she’d disapprove
