DIY Autumn Candle

Jenny Cubas, News/Front Page Editor

With the beginning of fall already here, why not make yourself a cute candle to keep your room smelling nice throughout the season.

The materials you will need are:

  • Mod Podge
  • Mason Jars
  • Leaves (fake or real)
  • Sponge brush or regular painting brush
  • Rafia (strands of hay-like straw)
  • Tealight
  • Lighter or matches

Step 1: Cover the outside of the mason jar with the Mod Podge to create a sticky base.

Step 2: Take the leaves one by one and carefully place them on the jar. Smoothing the leaves out with your hand would be best to prevent air bubbles.

Step 3: Once the leaves are on the jar, put a coat of Mod Podge over the leaves to give the jar a glossy finish.

Step 4:  Grab about 4 to 5 strands of rafia and tie it around the top of the jar to give it a bow-like dimension.

Step 5: Ignite a small tealight and put it in the jar.

Now you have a festive candle that can be used all throughout fall.
