Maryssa Rodriguez is a 15-year-old sophomore at Birmingham Community Charter High School. She just transferred to BCCHS from Lake Havasu High School in Arizona. The move was tremendous but she is happy to be here. At her old school, she was president of her class in Student Council and in Honors Society maintaining a 3.8 GPA or higher while also starting on varsity in 3 sports as a freshman.

Becoming a part of Journalism was a big step for Maryssa and isn't really in her character or strengths, but she is ready to take on the challenge. She plans to go to UCLA on a full-ride scholarship and major in Biomedical Engineering.

Sports have always been a part of Maryssa's family and life, she has been playing them since she was 5 and plans to continue for as long as she can. She plans to make a career through softball but she has always loved volleyball and basketball as well. She also loves to be with her family playing games and barbequing. Her family is a big part of her life and she thanks them for every part they've had in taking care of her and helping her strive to have become the person she is today.
