Phoebe Cuadra is an 18-year-old senior at Birmingham Community Charter High School. She was born on December 15, 2006 in Hollywood, California. She started her freshman year at Royal High School in Simi Valley, and transferred her sophomore year to continue playing softball at Birmingham. She has enjoyed her time at BCCHS and is very thankful for the wonderful people she’s met since transferring. She is very eager to continue the next part of her life at college and earn her bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. She has always wished to be an engineer and to make her parents happy. She grew up as an only child but often hangs out with her friends and spends her time with her family.

Phoebe spends most of her time at school and practice. She has known what she has wanted to do since she was ten years old and never let anyone convince her otherwise. She has always thrived in the more math and science-based classes in school, and has always had a passion for computer sciences and programming. She’s been warned many times of the competition and rigor that it takes to become a computer engineer and thrive in this major, but she is confident that it is something she will be able to achieve. She believes that hard work will get you anywhere you want to go, and also believes that as long as you work hard and enjoy what you’re doing, you’ll be fine. She is very excited to hear back from colleges and nervously awaits college decisions from UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara. Phoebe wants to go somewhere that is good for her major and has found that these two have very good computer science programs.

When she is not at school, you will often find her at practice or hanging out with her friends. She began playing softball when she was just five years old and continued to play as she started high school, as well. It became a very consistent part of her life, and although she had to quit her senior year for health reasons, she continues to acknowledge it as a big part of who she is and one of her favorite hobbies. When she’s not at practice, she will normally be with her friends or family. She enjoys shopping and spending time with the people that mean the most to her. She has a lot of fun with her closest friends and is often out with them either shopping, at the beach, or doing fun activities with them at home. She has an amazing friend group that all enjoy the love and passion for softball and she is so grateful for them helping her and being a supportive group of girls during her three seasons of high school ball. She has a lot of very supportive and loving friends and doesn’t know what she would do without them. They mean the world to her and as she leaves Birmingham, she will continue to keep in touch with them and make sure they still spend quality time together.

Overall, Phoebe is an excited 12th grader ready to pursue the world outside of high school. BCCHS has become a big part of her life and has given her many opportunities and lovely people in her life that she will never take for granted. Even though she’s nervous for life after graduation, she takes comfort in her friends and knows that they will always have each other to rely on as they venture out of childhood and start the new phases of their lives as adults. She has a lot of confidence that she will thrive in college and achieve all her goals that she’s had since she was very young, and make her family proud of her. She wishes to be successful and hopes that everyone graduating with her this year also achieves their dreams and has faith that they will do very great things.
