Santiago Campos, Staff Writer

Santiago Campos is a 16-year-old junior who attends Birmingham Community Charter High School. He was born on July 26, 2008, in California, wanting to be a boxer at first but is now striving to become an electric engineer. He has one older brother, two younger sisters, and one older step-sister. He always tries his best to make his family, as well as himself, proud of his accomplishments.

The year he was a freshman, he thought the school was so massive that he’d get lost. After a few semesters, he got very used to the whole school but he still doesn’t remember the location of every hall. Many of his friends from middle school came to Birmingham as well, and he has even made more friends within his classes. Santiago loves talking with people he has known for years and still speaks with new people when given the chance. Many of his friends and some teachers call him Santi for short, he isn’t used to hearing his full name being said by a friend. He still doesn’t know which college or university he’s going to go to, but he’s thinking about going to a trade school for his dream job. He recently joined journalism this semester and is loving the class so far.

Santiago loves going out for runs, cooking, playing games, collecting cards, listening to music, and talking with his family or friends. He would go out for runs to clear his head of whatever it is that’s bothering him, he often runs for a mile and has recently finished a mile in 9 minutes. Santi loves learning how to cook and enjoys doing the cooking; it was one of the goals he wished to attain when he was younger. He plays a variety of games in his free time like Tears of the Kingdom, Pokemon Violet, Ghost Of Tsushima, Yugioh, Marvel Rivals, Persona, and Dragon Ball Fighter Z. He started getting into card collecting due to his brother and so far it’s been pretty good for him, as he collects Pokemon and YuGiOh cards. He listens to music every second of the day, and he listens to artists like Juice Wrld, Wave To Earth, Laufey, and Kendrick Lamar. Santi speaks with his brother the most throughout his days at home, talking about anything that comes to mind. He also has a friend who he is very competitive with, each trying to be better than the other, but at the end of the day, they’re both best friends.

Santi also has some favorite movies and shows like Spiderman, Dragon Ball, and Bleach. He looks up to his dad because his father works hard for his family and does his best to keep everyone happy. He also has many goals he wants to achieve in life like running fast for a long period, climbing a tree, doing a handstand, cooking and baking, knitting, drawing great things, and getting better at holding up conversations with people. So far, he’s getting close to doing every goal besides knitting and climbing a tree. Santiago hopes that he will be able to be a standout in all his classes and write great stories.
