Back & Better Than Ever: Jonas Brothers Reviving Our Childhood
March 22, 2019
If you grew up in the mid-2000’s, then you definitely listened to the Jonas Brothers growing up. You’ve probably seen them on Hannah Montana, Camp Rock, and their 3D concert experience on TV. The rock band was a sensational hit and captured the hearts of many teenagers through many of their top charting songs like, “Hold On,” “Year 3000,” “Burning Up,” When You Look Me In The Eyes,” and many more. Millions of fans were devastated from the break up of their in 2013. But alas, the brothers came back to stitch together all of our broken hearts and light up our childhood.
The Jonas Brothers originated in Wyckoff, New Jersey in 2005. The oldest brother is Kevin, followed by Joe and later Nick. They signed their first record, “Please Be Mine,” with Columbia Records President Steve Greenberg. During the same year, the group toured with artists such as: Kelly Clarkson, Jesse McCarthy, the Backstreet Boys, and Click Five. While on tour, the brothers were recording and writing their debut studio album. Their first album, It’s About Time, sold 67,000 in the U.S. This was the start of the skyrocketing career for the brothers over the next eight years.
For nearly a decade, the musical group went on to sell 17 million albums worldwide. In 2008, the brothers had their first theatrical break with the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock. Due to the success of their debut film, Disney created the series, JONAS. Despite the short lived series, the sequel to their movie, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, delivered critical success.
In October 2013, it was announced that they were disbanding due to creative differences. They all went their own separate ways. Nick started his solo career, Joe started a new band, DNCE, and Kevin continued to make his family grow.
On February 28, 2019, the brothers announced via Twitter that they’ll be releasing a single, “Sucker.” The song was released on March 1st, with a music video, one that features having their “better halves” be the main focus of the video.
The internet went crazy over this unexpected comeback. Fans started to bring back nostalgic memories by sharing old videos and pictures. The brothers even re-created an old inside joke video. In the video, Nick and Kevin flip the table to the other side and Joe walks in through the door saying,”Oh how the tables have turned.” With all the boys making a funny pose at the camera.
They promoted this new video on The Late Late Show with James Corden. This was their first major televised appearance since their departure. The band enjoyed making funny skits and doing “Carpool Karaoke,” which is a famous segment on Corden’s show. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s Corden needing help get to work, so he calls in special guests to help him. During the show, they played a game, “Spill your Guts or Fill your Guts.” Corden asks the guests nail-biting questions and they either answer it or eat the unappetizing food in front of them.
The Jonas Brothers were and are very dear to our hearts. Everybody seems to be excited for what new projects they have in store. Their reunion was always speculation brought up by dedicated and die-hard fans. Now, another generation can discover a new era of the Jonas Brothers.
