On September 10, 2025, at the campus of Utah Valley University, Charlie Kirk, a media sensation and a conservative political activist who debated many people around the world about his political beliefs, was brutally shot and assassinated in front of 3,000 students, his family, and millions across the internet.
Before the shooting, Charlie Kirk had been on his America Comeback Tour, organized by Turning Point USA, and he had been to many states discussing political matters about America and other subjects like abortion, gun violence, and racism in America. He was debating a college student about gun violence, and soon after, while he was in mid-sentence, he was shot in the neck and rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As Charlie Kirk was debating a student from Utah Valley University, Charlie Kirk was allegedly shot in the neck by Tyler James Robinson, another student from Utah Valley University, while he was 200 yards away on top of a nearby building. Two days later, Robinson was arrested, and his trial still awaits, but some say he could be facing the death penalty.
New speculation has been debated on the internet about an alleged acquaintance at the time when Charlie was shot in the neck. After the shooting, there was a man, George Zinn, screaming, “Shoot me. I’m the killer!” to distract the majority of people, and even the police, so that Robinson could escape the crime scene.
After Kirk’s assassination, the video of this event was uploaded, causing quite a stir on the internet, and President Donald Trump spoke on the incident on an ABC News Live broadcast, stating, “A giant of a generation, a champion of liberty, and an inspiration to millions and millions of people,” as he mourned with his family about his fatal death. After Trump expressed his emotion about Kirk’s death, it caused speculation on the internet as people expressed mixed emotions about Trump’s speech.
Although he was quite the political activist, Kirk had many controversial views about several hot topics on the internet. We must remember that Kirk was still a father with a family, a son to a mother and a father. Even though his political views weren’t loved by all, he used his American right to use the First Amendment, freedom of speech, to voice his opinion, and was shot for it. Nonetheless, on September 10, 2025, as he was talking to many young students that day, no one should have died that day.
