Over a decade after its original premiere date, the AMC phenomenon The Walking Dead, is finally coming to an end with a twenty-four-episode final season. So far, the first five classic Walking Dead episodes have aired starring returning cast members Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean-Morgan, Melissa McBride, and many more.

Over the years, the Walking Dead has captivated audiences with its thrilling depiction of life during the zombie apocalypse. We’ve followed our protagonists as they’ve conquered a variety of challenges including opposing groups like the Saviors and the Whisperers, psychopaths like the Governer, and of course walkers: the most common name for this universe’s zombies. Now, our favorite apocalypse survivors have to deal with new challenges posed by groups like the Commonwealth and the Reapers.

Daryl (left), Gabriel (center-left), Maggie (center), and Negan (right) are seen teaming up at the beginning o the season in search of supplies.

So far, season 11 has been just as enjoyable as the rest as we follow Maggie’s return and her rivalry with Negan. We’ve also watched as Yumiko, Ezekiel, Eugene, and Princess have been uncovering secrets within the Commonwealth, a creepily civil group. People like Aaron, Lydia, Carol, and Jerry deal with the aftermath of the Whisperers. Then, of course, there’s the fan-favorite character Daryl, who per usual, is once again off doing his own thing, but for the better of the group.

Just because the original show that fans fell in love with is ending, it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the universe, however. The Walking Dead spin-offs, Fear the Walking Dead, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, have new seasons coming out shortly and a spin-off featuring Daryl and Carol is in the works. Not to mention that the Rick Grimes-centered movies were delayed due to COVID-19.
