The BCCHS boys’ soccer season is over, and they had an excellent season finishing with 17 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie. They won the L.A. City Championship beating El Camino 2-0 in the final game at L.A. Valley College. The team finished 2nd in the West Valley League (behind Granada Hills HS) and ranked #7 in California.
Before the season started, they played four non-league games in December. These non-league schools included South East High School, Kennedy High School, Downey High School, and San Dieguito Academy, and the Patriots won all four games. At the end of December, the team also played in three non-league games against Torrey Pines H.S., San Clemente H.S., and Richmond H.S. They won 4-0 against Torry Pines, lost 1-0 against San Clemente, and tied 1-1 against Richmond.
In January, the BCCHS league games started with their first game against Chatsworth High School and they won with a score of 4-0. They also played and won three other home games against El Camino Real, Taft High School, and Cleveland High School. The boys’ soccer team’s first away game was played against Granada Hills and they lost 2-1. Following this loss, they made it up when they beat Chatsworth again 2-1. Continuing their season, they played and lost against El Camino Real at the end of January by a score of 3-1 but won their next two games against Taft and Cleveland.
The BCCHS soccer team’s last league home game was away against Granada Hills (it was also their Senior night) but thankfully BCCHS beat Granada Hills 2-0.
After their last league game concluded, the Patriots started their first home playoff game on February 14 against Locke High School and BCCHS blew them out by the amazing score of 6-0.
The BCCHS soccer team continued in the second round of playoffs where they played against South East High School and Birmingham won 3-0. In the semifinals against Fremont High School, BCCHS brought home another victory 5-0.
The soccer team then headed to the CIF Los Angeles City Finals at Los Angeles Valley College against El Camino Real where they won 2-0 but Birmingham and El Camino Real were both eliminated from the state playoffs due to a fight that occurred immediately after the game.
The season ended with a city championship, and that made this year a very successful season.
