Mikey Madison’s performance in “Anora” earned her the Best Actress award, and it was a moment that many people, even her fans, were waiting for. Her act as the lead character was incredibly amazing and emotional, and her performance had everyone in shock. During her acceptance speech, Madison expressed how much the role meant to her, and her words brought tears to many. “She gave everything to that role. She dedicated many years to this role. I think she deserved that win. It wasn’t just acting, it was like a character coming to life. Her performance is one of my current favorites.” Mikey’s win was one of the highlights of the evening and a testament to her talent,” said Iris Estevez (12).
Adrien Brody also had a huge night, winning Best Actor for his role in “The Brutalist.” The film, which dives into the struggles of an artist trying to find his place in the world, shows Brody’s incredible acting skills. His performance was intense, thoughtful, and incredibly amazing, making him a standout among the other nominees. “Adrien was amazing in “The Brutalist.” He made you feel for his character, and you could see how hard he worked on it. I think he deserved that award 100%. He gave everything to that role, and it showed,” stated Ayomide Velasquez (11). Brody’s win was a well-deserved recognition for his emotional commitment to the acting industry.
For Best Supporting Actress, Zoe Saldaña took home the Oscar for her role in “Emilia Pérez,” a powerful drama about an immigrant mother navigating life in America. Saldana’s performance was heartfelt and deeply moving, especially since most immigrant mothers and families can relate. Showing her amazing skills as an actress. Her portrayal of a mother fighting for her family resonated with many, and the Oscars recognized her incredible contribution to the film. “Zoe Saldaña was amazing in “Emilia Pérez. This film, about a man who returns to his home country after many years abroad, was praised for its depth and emotional storytelling. “I’m Still Here” shows themes of identity, belonging, and the struggle of returning to a place that feels both familiar and foreign. “I loved “I’m Still Here.” It was so powerful and opened my eyes to how people experience the world differently depending on where they come from,” said Ayomide Velasquez(11). “It was such a deserved win, and I’m happy it got recognized.” All the film’s victories of this year were an important moment for international cinema at the Oscars of 2025.
