The San Francisco 49ers just shared their new 2025 football schedule, and 49er fans are excited. After a tough 2024 season where they only won six games and lost 11, the team is looking to make a comeback. This year, they have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL, which gives them a good chance to win more games and maybe make the playoffs.
The 49ers start the season on September 7, 2025, with a big game against the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle. The next week, they travel again to play the New Orleans Saints. On September 21, they finally play their home opening game against the Arizona Cardinals. The following week, on September 28, they stay at home to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Here is where things get interesting. Around this part of the season, the 49ers will face some teams that were stronger in 2024. For example, the Rams made it to the playoffs last year, so both of their matchups against them on October 2 and November 9 will be tough. The Buccaneers didn’t make the playoffs, but they have a strong defense and could be a challenge, especially when playing at home. The Texans are another team on the rise. They made it to the playoffs last year and even won a playoff game with their young quarterback, C.J. Stroud. So that October 26 game might be one of the hardest in the first half of the season.
In October, the team plays the Los Angeles Rams on the road at SoFi Stadium on October 2. The team then flies out to Florida to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 12. After that, they come back to play the Atlanta Falcons at home on October 19, and then head to Texas to play against the Houston Texans on October 26.
November is a busy month. They play the New York Giants on the road on November 2, then come back home to face the Rams again on November 9. After that, they go to Arizona to play the Cardinals once more on November 16. They will play the Carolina Panthers at home on November 24, and wrap up the month by flying to Cleveland to play the Browns on November 30.
The 49ers get a break with a bye week in early December. Then they come back strong, hosting the Tennessee Titans on December 14, and going on the road to play the Indianapolis Colts on December 22. Finally, they finish the season at home against the Chicago Bears on December 28.
Some of the teams they’re facing didn’t do well last year, which gives the 49ers a better shot at winning more games. But the games against teams like the Texans, Rams, and Browns will be bigger tests. The 49ers will also play on national TV five times this season, which means fans all over the country will be watching. After a tough year in 2024, this could be the season they turn things around and fight their way back into the playoffs.
