There are many different ways to decorate your home with pumpkins without the hassle of carving them. Halloween is still weeks away, but putting your own decorated pumpkins around the house will give it the Halloween feel.

Pumpkin Painting

An alternate way of saving yourself the mess of carving a pumpkin is by simply just painting it. Painting your own pumpkins will allow you to coordinate the colors you want to in order to match the room you’re going to put it in.

Materials:

  • Paint
  • Painters tape
  • Stencils
  • Paint brushes/ Sponge brushes
  • Pumpkin

Directions:

  1. Find a place where getting messy won’t be a problem.
  2. Place pumpkin on a flat surface.
  3. Depending on what design you want, tape the stencil on your pumpkin well and dab the paint on top, so it can create the shape of the preferred stencil, or place the painters tape in any angle you want. Then paint the entire pumpkin, once you take the tape off the desired design will appear.
  4. Let the pumpkin dry in a place where it cannot be disturbed.
  5. When the pumpkin is completely dry, place it where it can decorate the room nicely.

Paper Pumpkins

If buying a pumpkin isn’t your favorite thing to do, then making your own pumpkin will be next best thing for you. By making paper pumpkins you can save money and a mess.

Materials:

  • Green and Orange colored paper
  • Glue (liquid or stick)
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Cut about 6-10 strips of orange paper (depending how large you want your pumpkin) and set aside.
  2. Cut two circles out of the orange paper for the base and top of the pumpkin.
  3. Glue the strips to the base one by one until they are dry and repeat when doing the top of the base (to create an arch form.)
  4. Once the strips are dried with the base cut out a small strip of green paper, and roll it up so it can be curly, and glue it on top of the pumpkin

Drilled Pumpkins

A simple and easy way to get creative with your pumpkin is to drill it. By drilling a pumpkin you can create an amazing design that will illuminate your room.

Materials:

  • Drill
  • Pumpkin
  • Candle

Directions:

  1. Draw on the pumpkin, so preferred outline design can be present when drilling.
  2. Drill pumpkin until desired design is starting to show.
  3. Cut a circle under the pumpkin, clean it out, and place a candle in it.
  4. Place the pumpkin in a room where it cannot catch on fire and light the candle in it.
