The weather is cooling down, and what is better to warm your taste buds than with hot chocolate? If plain hot chocolate or regular marshmallows isn’t cutting it, then why not try something new? Hot chocolate truffles are easy to make and give your hot chocolate that missing element.

Ingredients:

  • 2 3/4 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • cocoa powder, crushed candy canes, mini chocolate chips, or cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Melt all ingredients in one pot on low heat and stir constantly.
  2. Place in a bowl and put in refrigerator until stiff enough to scoop.
  3. Make small scoops, approximately 2 tablespoons each, and place in the freezer for one hour.
  4. Remove the scoops from the freezer and roll into balls.
  5. Roll the balls in the decoration of your choice (if you use marshmallows make sure to push them in the chocolate ball).
  6. Wrap each ball into plastic wrap and place in the fridge until ready to use.
  7. When ready to use, drop the ball into 1 1/2 cups of hot milk and stir.
