Sensational Super Bowl LI
February 13, 2017
Super Bowl LI was the huge moment that both the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons took to shine brilliantly. Super Bowl LI took place on February 5, 2017 at Houston, Texas in the NRG Stadium. Both teams gave this game their all but as everyone knows, each team had a good half and and a bad half. The final score was 34-28 in overtime with the New England Patriots getting their 5th Super Bowl win and the Falcons are now 0-2 in the Super Bowl. Both teams had a huge 2016-2017 season and the New England Patriots had to be without Tom Brady for four games while he was suspended for deflating footballs against the Indianapolis Colts in a conference playoff game back in the 2014-2015 season. The Falcons struggled defensively at the beginning of the season and then stepped up their game to make it to the playoffs and reach the Super Bowl.
Neither team scored the whole 1st quarter, but then the Falcons picked up their game and went into the locker room with the score at 21-3 in favor of the Falcons. Lady Gaga had a great halftime show performance. The Patriots still had hope for the win and came out in the 3rd quarter scoring more points, but the Falcons also scored and the 3rd quarter ended 28-9.
Entering the 4th quarter with only 15 minutes left, the Patriots gave it their best to at least head into overtime and they successfully did that at the end of the 4th quarter with the score tied 28-28.
This was the first time ever that a Super Bowl game went into overtime. The referee gave the Patriots a chance to choose at the coin toss, and the Patriots chose heads and won the toss–giving them a chance to receive the ball and make the biggest comeback in NFL Super Bowl history. Tom Brady was completing passes the whole time (only failing once) but then it came to the final play, 2nd and goal at the 2 yard line, and Brady gave the ball to James White, who punched it into the end zone ending the game 34-28.
The Patriots won their 5th Super Bowl after making a huge comeback.
