Moses Aguirre

Moses Aguirre, Staff Writer

Moses Aguirre is a 15-year-old sophomore at Birmingham Charter High School. His favorite things to do in his free time are drawing, reading comics and mangas, playing soccer, and helping his friends out. Some of his favorite music artists are MF DOOM, Kanye West, and Mac Miller. Music has a huge influence on Moses as it helps him calm down or get his work done. Moses loves to be there for his friends, whether it be playing soccer with them or being someone to talk to about anything. Skating and going to the park also helps Moses refresh his mind as well.

Moses loves watching sports with his brother Andrew and it’s something with which they share a huge connection. He got the chance to play with his brother at Sofi Stadium on the same soccer team. Moses’s favorite position in soccer is goalkeeper, as it holds a lot of responsibility for a team and is the position he plays as well.  Despite their poor shape in recent years, Moses loves the Mexico National Team. He feels a huge connection with them more than any other sports team because he practically grew up with them and he would tune in whenever he could. One thing that’s part of his bucket list that’s related to soccer, is he would love to see either of his clubs Manchester United or Real Madrid in a Champions League final in person.

Three words that would describe Moses are creative, funny, and talkative. Since Moses was in third grade, his dream and goal in life has been to be an animator and storyboard artist for Walt Disney Animation Studios. He hopes to make history in the animation industry and strives to be one of the best. Some role models that Moses looks up to are Walt Disney, J.G. Quintel, Todd McFarline, Eric Goldberg, Matt Groening, and many more. Some shows that inspire Moses are Gravity Falls, Hunter x Hunter, Regular Show, El Chavo, and The Simpsons. Moses hopes to make his cartoon show himself and wishes to inspire kids around the world as his role models once did to him. Moses won’t stop or rest at any point until he’s able to fulfill his dreams. What inspires Moses the most is his Dad–no matter how he felt the night before, or how he may feel the day after, he works to make sure Moses and his family are happy.

Reading comics and mangas has always been part of Moses. Moses uses comics as a way to escape reality, to go on adventures that weren’t even possible if not being told through fiction. That’s why he would like to go around the world, with Europe being his main target. He would like to take his parents with him as well as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for every ounce of support they have given Moses. Maybe one day, Moses will also have the chance to write his own stories about his adventures.
