Musk’s goal for Twitter is to focus more closely on free speech. He also is less likely to ban people for violation of Twitter’s policies. Twitter had banned President Trump’s account for the violation of its policy; however, Musk plans to reinstate the account. Musk bought Twitter because he believed Twitter wasn’t being run the proper way and plans to change the policies as well.

Musk talked at the TED conference about his future plans for Twitter. He mentioned how he wants more free speech, to not permanently ban people, and wants less dependence on advertising because he thinks it’s bad for free speech. Musk tweeted, “Any account doing real-time location info of anyone will be suspended, as it is a physical safety violation. This includes posting links to sites with real-time location info.”

Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey was not fond of Elon Musk becoming the new CEO. Dorsey apologized to the Twitter employees about the new change. He takes responsibility for the fact that half of Twitter’s workforce was fired in one day. The fired 7,500 employees were very upset with him.

Looking at the big picture, Dorsey believes Musk is doing the right thing and is correcting the mistakes made with his takeover of the company.
