David Turcios, Staff Writer

David Turcios is a 15-year-old sophomore at Birmingham Community Charter High School, born on August 16, 2010, in Los Angeles, California. He grew up close to his family, living with his mother and father and being the oldest out of his four siblings. Outside of school, David enjoys spending time with his family and hanging out with his friends. On the weekend, David and his friends like hanging out at each other’s houses, especially going to play basketball and grabbing something to eat afterward.

David also likes doing many things in his free time, like listening to music, watching sports, playing guitar, biking, and hiking. He likes hiking and going camping with his family and friends, and wants to go on more trips in the future to explore the amazing views.

David loves to listen to music. Music is what gets him going throughout the whole day. He is always listening to music, in the morning, at night, while studying, every day. It is essential for him. To him, music is also a way people can connect. Some of his favorite artists are Dean Blunt, A$AP Rocky, and Lucki.

David also really enjoys watching and playing sports. Growing up, David’s parents pushed him to be active. He has participated in sports like wrestling, basketball, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and football. His freshmen year, David played JV football at Birmingham and learned a lot about teamwork and discipline. Football meant a lot to him, and he enjoyed playing alongside his friends and teammates. He played defensive end. Unfortunately, right when his sophomore season started, an injury stopped him from playing, but he still keeps an interest in athletics and supporting school sports. Even though he could not play this year, he continues to stay motivated and focused on his goals. David also enjoys watching sports and supporting teams like the Lakers and the Dodgers.

As of right now, David has no idea what his plans are for the future and is still figuring things out. After high school, he wants to go to college, but doesn’t know what he’s interested in. For now, David is focusing on school and exploring new things that he might enjoy.
