Earth, the green planet we all love and live on. This planet was specialized for the human race; the components of this specialized planet, which is referred to as earth is supposed to be impossible to exist, but it still roams the void of space with a species that is one of a kind, which is rapidly killing its home planet at exponential rates that can reach a point of no return. Many factors are damaging our planet, one being the amount of CO2 we pump into the atmosphere, and the other being deforestation in our precious ecosystems.
First of all, the majority of the damage that is being done to our planet is the amount of CO2 we are pumping into our atmosphere. This CO2 influences the Earth’s climate, which is commonly known as climate change. The two things that have the biggest impact on the changes in CO2 in our atmosphere are fossil fuels and the vehicles we use for transportation. The first thing that has a big impact on CO2 levels on Earth is the amount of fossil fuels we use and extract, including coal, oil, and natural gas. These fuels continue to be mined and extracted from our planet for the personal gain of big corporations, and, in my opinion, money isn’t worth risking our planet for, because it is one of a kind, and we can’t replicate it. The second one is the vehicles we use, which use some of these fossil fuels, and once we use the fuel for our vehicles, something called combustion happens, which causes more CO2 to be put into the atmosphere.
Secondly, the other thing that is destroying our environment is deforestation at an exponential rate for the major corporations’ profit margins. Deforestation not only affects the amount of oxygen the earth produces, but it also causes species to go extinct, as these species can not be replicated because of their DNA sequences, and how hard it is to practically clone them. One of the biggest forests that is being affected by deforestation is the Amazon, and the species that live within the forest. An example of how deforestation has affected the Amazon is that in the early 1970s, the forest had a coverage of an estimated 95%, and now, in 2025, the amount of forest that covers the Amazon is 79.2 %, which may seem like a small percentage, but the number of trees gone from these years is around eight hundred thousand. People do not realize that this is detrimental to the Earth’s production of oxygen, and it may affect every species that lives on Earth, including us, if we don’t step up and try to stop deforestation.
Last of all, what may we do to prevent this? Many things can stop these problems, and the top two things are to protest for the environment, and the other is to start using things that don’t use so much fossil fuel. If these things are done correctly, we may be able to save our planet from a detrimental event that would cause every species to go extinct. However, if we do not do this correctly and see humanity’s errors and fix them, then our planet could enter a detrimental state that can not be fixed, and everyone on this planet would cease to exist. This is why our population needs to be more aware of what is happening on Earth currently, or there will be little to no awareness or help for our planet.
