Jade Baxendale, Editor-in-Chief
Jade Baxendale is a senior at Birmingham Community Charter High School and Editor-in-Chief of the Patriot Post. At school, she is part of the AP Capstone program- currently, vice president of the capstone peer adviser club- and is captain of the school’s color guard. She’s also a part-time student at Los Angeles Valley College through Birmingham’s SAS program and communications director of Knights and Ladies. In her free time, Jade enjoys reading, creative writing, and playing video games. She is currently working on writing a novel and hopes to be a published author one day.
Jade is a part of many music, television, and other forms of entertainment fandoms. Currently, she is enthralled in the Witcher universe including the show, games, and books. Her favorite music genres are alternative and pop-punk as seen in her favorite bands Waterparks and All Time Low. However, it’s not uncommon to find her listening to varied music genres from show tunes to indie rock.
Jade also loves the outdoors. Most weekends she goes hiking with her dad and her dog, Roxy. Roxy is Jade’s four-year-old Rottweiler, who needs a lot of attention. Lucky for her, Jade spends a lot of time walking, hiking, and playing with her whenever she can. When she doesn’t bring Roxy along, Jade loves kayaking, parasailing, zip-lining, fishing, and snorkeling. Most of the time when she’s doing these activities, she’s on her yearly trip to Catalina Island, a.k.a. her favorite place on earth. In fact, Jade is a certified Catalina naturalist and hopes to help with the conservation efforts on the island.
In the future, Jade plans to attend college majoring in environmental studies. Her dream college is Stanford, but she would be ecstatic to go to any of the UC schools- specifically UCSB or UCLA. Even though she doesn’t know what’s ahead, Jade’s excited for the future and can’t wait to see what lies ahead of her.
