Darlene Fuentes-Catalan, Staff Writer
Darlene Fuentes-Catalan is a 17-year-old senior at Birmingham Community Charter High School. Darlene has worked as an election worker in the November 3, 2020, general election. She was accepted into the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program and built 2 websites. During her junior year, she was an IT intern for Birmingham's IT department.
Currently, Darlene is in the CTE pathway for Information and Technology. She is taking AP Computer Science A because of her career interests. Outside of school, she works as a server at a Sushi/Bar/Teppen restaurant. She enjoys taking the subway and going shopping, visiting museums, parks, and thrifting in Down Town LA with her friends. After a long day of going out, she likes to cook meals and watch the latest episode of an anime that she is watching. Currently, Darlene is trying to adopt a whole-foods plant-based diet, but she's having a hard time making tofu taste good.
Her goals for her senior year are to complete the pathway and graduate with a 4.0 GPA. After graduating from high school, Darlene plans to attend a 4-year university and move out of state, where she wants to major in computer science and become a software engineer.
