Destiny Coronel is a 15-year-old and she is currently a sophomore at Birmingham Community Charter High School. Destiny was born in Van Nuys, California. Her mom is Salvadorian and her dad is Mexican making her Salvadorian/Mexican American. She has one sibling who is younger than her, and a cat named Rambo. Destiny enjoys picking up new hobbies, spending time with her family and friends, eating, and exploring new places. Destiny also enjoys watching shows and movies on Netflix, and her comfort show is Gilmore Girls. She enjoys comedies and likes 10 Things I Hate About You, A Walk To Remember, and the new show A Good Girl's Guide To Murder. She likes painting, social media, reading, and listening to music. One of her other interests involves shopping.

This is her first year writing for The Patriot Post, she fell into this elective by luck but she has found a new interest in journalism which she plans to convey in her future written pieces. Destiny is a very academically rigorous person who also likes being involved in school. She does this by taking challenging classes and she is currently in ASB which she enjoys very much. Destiny is also in her first year of Dance at BCCHS! Her plans for the future include attending her dream school, UCLA, where she plans on going into medical school to pursue Neonatology. After completing her goals, she hopes to pursue a career path that is right for her!

Destiny plans on traveling around the world in the future. She would like to go to Indonesia, Bali, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and El Salvador. Destiny has visited both Washington and North Carolina. After watching the Olympics this year, she has a newfound interest in watching sports!  She loves listening to all kinds of music and has a bunch of favorite artists. Destiny loves all types of food and likes trying new foods. Her favorite things about Birmingham are the community, friends, and supportive staff.
