Fatima Tena, a 17-year-old junior, is a student at Birmingham Community Charter High School. She was born on November 26, 2008, in Michoacan, Mexico, but moved to LA when she was 4-years-old. Since then, she has grown up in the San Fernando Valley with her family. She has always had an interest in writing, but never pursued it. She instead pursued her passion for art before slowly leaving it behind as a hobby. Now that she has joined Journalism, her interest in writing has rekindled. Her goal is to turn worldwide news into a student newspaper where people can go to read about issues they may not be aware of. She’s excited to start publishing stories for The Patriot Post and inform fellow students about current events.

Outside of school, Fatima spends her days with her family, more specifically with her younger sister, Daniela. From Monday through Thursday, she helps Daniela with her homework. This is something she does to help her little sister understand her schoolwork better. (She also gets paid to help her.) Other than helping her with her work, she sometimes plays Roblox with Daniela, which almost always ends with an argument.

Besides being with her younger sister, Fatima manages her time by doing her schoolwork, spending time with her family and friends, and having personal time. Her life goal is to move out of her parents’ house and move into her own apartment once she has a stable income. Although she hasn’t decided on what she wants to do with her life, she has her mind on some options, such as criminology, psychology, business, and sociology.

Fatima’s favorite artists consist of Drake, Frank Ocean, Beabadoobee, Travis Scott, and Daniel Caesar. Her music taste ranges through different types of genres and isn’t based solely on one genre. This reflects her mindset, as she tries to be as open-minded as possible because she understands that everyone will always have a different opinion. Her favorite movies are The Batman Lego Movie, and This is 40. She feels as if those movies represent her to her closest self. One of her dreams is to travel the world outside of the major cities and see the natural beauty of the world.
