Arianna Romero, Student Life Editor

Arianna Romero, known as Ari, is a junior at Birmingham Community Charter High School. She is 16 years old and was born on February 25, 2009, in California. Her parents are happily married, and both are from Mexico. She has one younger sister who just started middle school. When she is older, she would love to travel the world as much as she can. She loves sweets and has a big sweet tooth. Her favorite sweets are brownies, ice cream, cookies, and s’mores. Her favorite colors are blue, black, pink, and purple. She loves drawing, painting, and she especially loves listening to music, no matter where she is.

She absolutely loves Disney, and she went to Disneyland for seven straight years until they raised the price of the annual pass. She grew up watching all kinds of old Disney movies; her parents bought her the same CD movie because she kept scratching it. She doesn’t quite know what she wants to do yet, but she knows for sure she wants to be part of the Disney crew. Given that Disney has always been a part of her life, no matter how old she gets, it will always be a heartwarming memory of her family.

She is also in love with drawing and listening to music. She has been drawing ever since she was little; her dad introduced her to it. Unfortunately, she has slowly stopped drawing because of the increased workload in school; she still draws here and there, but not as often as she wishes to. The top three artists that she listens to are Bruno Mars, Pitbull, and Eminem. She grew up listening to Bruno Mars, so she has a small obsession with the artist. Since Bruno Mars is going on tour, her one birthday wish is to go to his concert.

One of her hobbies that she does from time to time is volleyball. She was on the volleyball team her freshman year, and she absolutely loved it, but since it was her first year, she didn’t know anyone and was very shy. She fell in love with the sport when she was 10 years old, when her mom signed her up at the Rec center. She loved going to practice. She also played beach volleyball, but didn’t like it as much. She only liked going to the beach because she would always see the sundown, and she loves sunsets.

Unfortunately, she did not continue volleyball during her sophomore and junior years, because she felt that she needed to focus more on school than sports. Her parents wanted her to continue the sport she loved, but things happened, and the love for volleyball isn’t really there that much.

Arianna hopes to graduate and go to college out of state. She wants to do whatever is possible to make her parents proud of her since she’s the first child and the first in the family to graduate from high school and go to college. Her parents mean the world to her, and she wants to prove that all the sacrifices that they made don’t go in vain. She wants the sacrifices that were made to be for a reason.

This is her first year in Journalism, and so far, she is getting the rhythm of the class. She can be loud, friendly, and open, but that’s what all her friends love about her. She is so full of energy that no one can miss the brightness she brings into the room.  She wishes to get out on campus more because she loves meeting new people. She will eventually get out of her comfort zone when the semester progresses. She can’t wait to see what Journalism has in store for her.
