Prom 2022 – Starry Night

Katherine Villasenor, Website Editor

Prom 2022 is something almost every senior is looking forward to. This event is going to take place at the L.A. Zoo on May 7, 2022, from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Many seniors are excited about prom but there were many mixed feelings when the prom dress code was released. Most seniors think it is unfair and some think that it is just right. The dress code that was announced is going to be highly enforced on the day of the event. It has also been announced that anyone who is not following the dress code the day of the event will not be allowed inside and will be turned away without a refund.

Formal Attire

The dress code is to be formal attire, meaning that dresses and suits are encouraged. Anything that includes: jeans, shorts, sports attire, or gang-related attire is against the dress code. Also, baseball caps, bandannas, pocket chains, and grills will not be allowed.

When it comes to dresses, they can not be shorter than fingertip length, midriffs must be covered, slits must not go higher than fingertips, cleavage must be covered, and backs cannot be exposed lower than the waistline.

When it comes to suits, shirts must be tucked in, they should not be taken off, they must be buttoned up all the way to the top, and there can’t be any sagging of pants. On a better note,  jackets and blazers will be acceptable.

Formal Attire – Suit

I think that this dress code should be followed throughout the whole night.

Yes, I do think the rules could be a bit excessive, especially when it comes to what the girls have to wear. But I also do think the school is doing this with good intentions in order to keep everyone safe and comfortable that night.

At the end of the day, every senior wants to enjoy their prom night and it would be terrible if you are turned away because of the dress code–especially the fact that you will not get your money back!

This will be a special night for many seniors so I do hope people take this seriously in order to have a smooth and fun night.
