Mayra Vargas is a 16-year-old student at Birmingham Community Charter High School who loves to write about her feelings and opinions. She keeps those drafts to herself and reads them at the end of the year to think about the self-improvement she's made. Although she loves to watch sports, she does not like playing them because she loves to watch soccer, baseball, football, basketball, etc... She doesn't like the feeling of being tired and sweating while playing so she simply just watches the games and enjoys them.
Her father is the inspiration for all her opinions about sports and that's why she loves to edit sports stories. Mayra loves to go out and party with her friends. She likes the party life and can't wait until she is older to have the freedom to have more fun. Mayra likes to attend quince's because they are part of her culture. She is Mexican and loves her culture so much that she really involves herself within the area of Mexico. Going to Mexico is a really fun vacation that she takes every year, and sometimes she goes twice a year. She usually goes to Mexico during half of the summer and almost the whole Christmas break. Mayra has a lot of friends and family in Mexico, so partying over there is best for her. Not only does she get to see her family, but she also goes out and parties with her friends in Mexico.
Mayra is very good at communicating through writing, and she loves to write her feelings down and speak about her feelings. She loves to read books, mostly romances, because it lets her imagine what she could have with someone and it makes her hope that love is out there. Working on herself has a lot to do with her love of reading, and care is very important in her opinion. Expanding more on her self-care also comes with her own "Self-Care Sundays," because every Sunday she loves to take a bath and relax with her music. After that long bath, she does her facials, a face mask, serums, creams, and oils. She takes care of her hair as well, after showering she adds her leave-in conditioner, oils, and hair serums for hair growth. Mayra turns on candles and makes sure her room is pretty clean to prepare her stuff for school the next day. When she prepares for school, she makes sure to charge her Chromebook, make sure she has what she needs for the periods she has the next day, tries to prepare some of the foods she'll take to school, and picks out her outfit for the next day so as not be in such a rush the next morning.
One of her favorite things to do is doing her makeup and getting ready. Although sometimes Mayra doesn't want to go out all the time when she gets ready, she still likes to because of the pictures and TikToks she does when she is all dressed up. When she gets ready, she feels empowered because of the art she can do on her face due to her makeup skills. Mayra has always loved the art of makeup, but she wasn't allowed to wear makeup until the age of 15. She would still watch videos on YouTube to see the art of other big creators. She has always been a girly girl, so that's why doing makeup, acrylic nails, pretty hair, and just self-care in general is something she loves to do. If Mayra didn't have such a big passion for writing and sports (Sports Journalism), she would go into cosmetology school because not only does she love doing that for herself, she also likes to share that with other people. Mayra is a person who considers herself first but also thinks about other people. She believes in "Love yourself first before loving anyone else."
