The Scream franchise is one of the biggest Slasher/horror franchises.  The Scream Franchise has seven movies plus a television series with three seasons. “Scream 7” was released on Feburary 27, 2026 .

“Scream 7” was directed by Kevin Williamson with the lead role once agian being Sidney Prescot who is played by Neve Campbell. Returing characters are Chad and Mindy from “Scream 5 & 6” who are played by Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown.  Gale Weathers, who has apperaered in every single Scream movie, is played by Courteney Cox. A new character is introduced in “Scream 7,” Tatum, who is played by Isabel May.

[Alert! Spoilers ahead!] “Scream 7” is once again about Sidney getting threatened but instead of Ghostface wanting to go after Sidney, he wants to go after her daughter Tatum, who is named after Sidney’s best friend who was killed in a past movie. Ghostface uses AI and tries so scare Sidney by making her think that Stu Macher, one of the first Ghostfaces, is still alive after a theory that he never actually died. Whenever Ghostface was where her daughter was they would call Sidney, trying to lure her out.

The movie starts at the origial place of the Woodsboro massacare that happened in the first movie. A stab-movie fan and his girlfreind go into the house and look around because the house had been turned into a horror-like airbnb. They both get killed in that airbnb by Ghostface. After the murder at the Macher house, Ghostface pulls up to Tatum’s school and calls Sidney and tells her that he’s at Tatum’s school. When Sidney gets to the school, she sees a girl hanging. She’s dead, and Sidney was worried because Tatum was in the same room but then Tatum comes out from backstage looking confused and Sidney is relieved that her daughter is still alive.

Tatum’s father is the chief of police so he gets cops to surround his house to protect his family. Later that day, Ghostface breaks into their house and Ghostface starts targeting Tatum. When they’re outside, Gale Weathers, Chad, and Mindy run him over and they capture Ghostface and it turns out he ends up being a customer at Sidney’s coffee shop.

Tatum goes out with her friends and Sidney is interviewed by Gale. Tatum and her boyfriend go into his truck while her friends are at the bar. Tatum finds animations of Stu Macher on her boyfriend’s computer, which makes her think that he is Ghostface. Ghostface attacks the bar and Chad and Mindy survive but Tatum’s freinds die.

Ghostface then went up to Tatum’s boyfriend’s car and attacked him and chased him after she hid in her mother’s coffee shop. Sidney called Tatum trying to help her, and Tatum was close to escaping but then a second Ghostface pulled up and captured her all while her mom saw it on camera. Ghostface called Sidney when they were back at Sidney’s house. Tatum was tied up in a chair and her dad, who we didnt see for most of the movie, was badly wounded from stab wounds. The killer reveals himself when Sidney gets there. Her dad is still alive and helps Tatum break free of her bond and they attack the killers.  Sidney and Tatum kill the killers and their dad is sent to the hospital.

The movie was interesting a lot of suspense and suprises. There have been quite a few mixed feelings about the movie with some people saying that they’re just dragging the franchise down and other people saying it was a good movie. I asked BCCHS student Lindsay Monroy (10) what she thought about “Scream 7″ and she said, ” I thought the movie was good and the deaths were intense, but when they revealed the Ghostfaces, it was kinda weird because the reason they gave to torment Sidney was kinda boring, but other than that, it was pretty good.”
