Halloween 2025 is here, and Los Angeles is filled with haunted attractions like spooky festivals, scary movie nights, new mazes at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, and much more that are giving people chills in the best way possible. This year, events in L.A. are bigger and scarier, making it hard to just choose one to visit.
One of the events a lot of people have been talking about this year is at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, which is from September 4th to November 2nd. There are eight new mazes this year, some new and some returning. The new ones this year are the “Jason Universe” maze, which is based on the movie Friday the 13th. You walk through a camp-like setting with cabins and woods, and you get scared. Another new one is the “Fallout” maze based on the series on Prime Video, and they also added a “Five Nights at Freddy’s” maze. Tonatzy Gonzales, a girl from my neighborhood who went on the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” maze, said, “I had my hopes up for this haunted house, but I didn’t really like it. I didn’t get scared like how I did with the other mazes.”
There are also returning mazes this year for Halloween Horror Nights, like the Terrifier haunted house, which features an Art the Clown-type vibe with a gory scenery to match the film’s vibe. Another neighbor, Lety Ortiz, had this to say about the maze, “I really liked the Terrifier maze; it reminded me a lot of the movie, and I felt like I was part of it.” Some other haunted house mazes at Universal that returned this year are the Poltergeist and the Terror Tram: Enter the Blumhouse, which gives you a walk-through of scenes that feature Blumhouse attractions like M3GAN, The Grabber from the movie “The Black Phone,” The Purge characters, and many more.
For families that still want to have a good time on Halloween but not go to overly scary haunted houses, there is an event at the Los Angeles Zoo called “Boo at the Los Angeles Zoo,” which has a bunch of activities for little kids and even couples who want to have a good time. They are offering pumpkin patches and animal-themed decorations around the zoo. There are also trick-or-treat stations set up around the zoo for little kids to enjoy. “My daughter is really scared of haunted houses, but this event at the zoo was really fun for her, and she enjoyed her time there,” said Aracelly Arellano, a mom who was interviewed who went to the event.
As the night of Halloween approaches in Los Angeles, there are a bunch of events you can attend. Whether it’s something scary like Halloween Horror Nights or something fun for you and your family, or even for couples, Los Angeles is buzzing with excitement during the Halloween season, and you’ll have a great time no matter what. Happy Halloween!!
