The Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots faced off in Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California. The Seahawks convincingly won Super Bowl LX, 29-13. Both teams had great seasons after not having such a good season the year before, and fans were excited to see who would win this year’s Super Bowl. Both teams also finished the regular season with an excellent 14-3 record. Many people were expecting the Seahawks to win because they thought the Patriots had an easier path to the Super Bowl, and because the Seahawks have a high-powered defense.
One reason people thought the Seahawks would win is because of their strong defense. Their defense had stopped many good teams this season, and people expected this game to be a blowout. BCCHS student Christian Martines (11) said, “The Seahawks’ defense was very tough, so it’s arguably better than the 2014 Seattle Seahawks defense that was called The Legion of Boom. The Seahawks also won because of their high-powered offense and because they had an amazing wide receiver who won the Offensive Player of the Year, JSN (Jackson Smith Njigba), who led the league in receiving yards.
Another BCCHS NFL fan, Nik Nava (11), said, “I believed the Patriots would win because they had a quarterback who was in the discussion of becoming the potential MVP this season. Drake May had the potential to expose the Seahawks’ defense and surprise everyone after being the underdog.”
In the end, many predictions favored the Seahawks because of their defense and strong overall team. The Patriots had proven they can fight and win under pressure. After having faced top-ranked defenses this year, fans around the country watched this Super Bowl not only because it was a good game, but because a much-loved artist named Bad Bunny performed during halftime, and people around the world watched this game.
