Bruno Fernandes is a 31-year-old Portuguese soccer player who controls Man United’s midfield and leads them to wins as their captain. Bruno Fernandes started his career at Novara in the third division in Italy in 2012/13. After a couple of seasons with different teams, he finally landed his big team with Sporting in July 2017. This also helped him to receive his first call-up to Portugal’s National Team. In his first full season with the team, he had an impressive 21 G/A in his first season with Sporting, helping his team win their respective league title.
After having incredible performances with Sporting, he finally made his big move in 2019 to Manchester United, where he finally cemented his name in their history. Winning silverware with the team, such as the FA Cup and the Cbararo Cup under his leadership. I decided to interview people who support different teams to see how they view him as a player. How they see his performances and what can be improved on.
BCCHS student Hayk Karapetian (11) said, “I think Bruno Fernandes is good and he’s a leader and sensational player when it comes to penalties. He also shows up for big moments when needed. Manchester United is the perfect team for Bruno Fernandes. As the team is filled with youngsters, he has the ability to guide the team to victory. I think he plays a different playstyle than other midfielders, while Bruno Fernandes mainly focuses on scoring goals. When you compare him to Pedri, he tends to defend more.”
Another BCCHS student, Antonio Piascico (11) added, “Bruno Fernandes is a great midfield player for Manchester United and versatile in his attack. If Manchester United didn’t have him on the team, they’d be in trouble right now. Despite being a good player, he is not as great as Pedri’s vision and defense. But he’s a top-quality midfielder in the Premier League. He’s starting for a world-class Portugal team at the moment and has trophies to back up his skills. This Portugal team also has the potential to win the World Cup. Without him, Manchester United would be at the bottom of the table. Not only that, the coach’s tactics don’t help him that much compared to his earlier years with the team. As they affect his play style and force him to play differently than he is used to.”
Despite the differences of the teams people may support, it may be universally agreed upon that Bruno Fernandes has shown himself to be a world-class player for both club and nation. He’s also shown to be a key player on any team he steps foot in.
