Valerie Olas is a 12th grade senior at Birmingham Community Charter High School. Her hobbies include playing musical instruments like the violin, guitar, and ukulele, and taking pictures. She loves to travel and has traveled to different states and countries. According to Valerie, journalism is a subject that allows you to state your own perspective on different topics. She specifically likes to cover current news events, considering that it’s important because everyone likes to be kept up-to-date. This is her first year as a writer/journalist in this class but definitely plans to work hard on all the stories she will be covering.
